This TUESDAY evening is our Winter Concert. Fifth grade will be performing at 7:00, so please have your student at the back stage at 6:45 dressed to impress :-) Thank you, and see you there.
For Language Arts and Social Studies, we are beginning our unit covering the Revolutionary War period of American History. Last week, I assigned parts to students to practice/memorize, if possible, over Winter Break. YES, just this little bit of homework over break please. The Thursday that we return from Winter Break, we have our Revolutionary War Walk-through where our students will learn of the most influential people of the time and the events that led to American Independence. We ask that students come to school on Thursday, Jan.11th, dressed either in traditional colonial costume or as their character card character. Thank you for your support on this. If you would like to come watch, our walk-through begins promptly at 8:45. Please do not bring siblings as this is an interactive experience, and they can be a distraction.
A notice with details and costume ideas went home the Friday before last. It also asks for $16.00 in cash to be sent in by this Friday, Dec. 15th. to cover the cost of this memorable experience. THANK YOU.
Also, after break, we will be starting the novel, Woods Runner, written by Gary Paulsen. It tells a coming-of-age story of a boy who has an epic and tragic adventure trying to find his kidnapped parents during the Revolutionary War.
For math, we are continuing to work on dividing Decimal numbers. With the busyness of the holiday season with us getting out of school so late this year, there will be no homework besides practicing lines for our Revolutionary Day Walk-through. After break, we start Topic 8: Algebra.
